How Minimalism Helped Me in my everyday life #1.

clothes

What benefit did I get from adapting a minimalist way of life? I will start with the basic but important help that it gave me – Savings through proper view of keeping clothes. Minimalism is not about having as few clothes as possible, it is about owning clothes that you will really wear. I learned that our wardrobe should contain the clothes that we will wear often and not for clothes that we will just use once or twice. We should be able to mix and match our clothes and can wear it without having to keep on changing our style. So, I learned that having a personal style will stop us from just buying anything that catches our eyes. I used to buy clothes just because it looks pretty. Now, I think first whether it fits my style before buying it. For example, I chose a cherry blossom color palatte for my summer wear and zen color palette for rainy days. Every time i go to shops I look for clothes that fits my color palette and style, this way I know that when I buy this item I can match it with at least 3 garments that I already have.

Having a particular set of guidelines that you keep in mind when buying things will prevent you from buying useless things that will just clutter your home.

How Minimalism Helped Me

Minimalism thought me to learn something new. No matter how busy we are, it will not hurt if we learn something new and these new things can help us by empowering us and lifting our morale. There is a voice telling us that, “hey, I know how to do this.”. So far I learned meditation, creating homemade products, basic Martial arts, and few foreign phrases because i allowed my self to learn. When you want to learn something, choose a topic that interests you or will make you feel good learning. My next wish list is learning Tai Chi because it relaxes the body. I only tried it once when we joined a group of old folks doing tai-chi, it was really relaxing but needs a bit of practice to memorize the steps.
