October 2018 is here but do you wonder why October is the 10th month of the year when Octo means eight? In the old Roman Calendar there were only 10 months. October was the eight month.

Anyway, October is a difficult month for us but it is also a month of restructuring our system. There will be more guides for our readers and more posts.

For our October issue we will have the following guides:

Philippines 2018 guides

1. Registering your Business as sole proprietor with proper Philippine government agencies such as DTI, BIR, SSS, pag-ibig, philhealth, business permit.

2. Name correction through the Local Civil Registrar. I intend to visit Baguio City’s LCR to know more about how they process clerical errors in Certificate of Live Birth.

3. Featured recommended app

I have more articles waiting to be listed but the listed ones are my focus this October for this website. For this month, I will also focus on increasing the facebook page and social media of this website. Lately, Facebook introduced a change in their system so I have to make a lot of changes.

September and October are months where many cases are flooding our Law Office so updating this website became difficult. However, I made sure to create a time for you this October 2018.

See you and watch out for my guides this October 2018.

Love Yourself By Forgiving Yourself

by: Nancy Monk

“…As we forgive those who sinned against us…” You might have uttered this prayer a thousand times before. You might have forgiven everyone who wronged you. You probably gave everything to charities and missionary works, yet you feel empty. Do you have regrets in life where you hated yourself for doing it? Is there something in your past that you do not want to recall because of shame, pain, or regret?

All of us did something in the past that we regretted and wished never did and hated ourselves for that. I did and sometimes it paralyzed me from loving myself. No matter how great our mistake were, we must forgive ourselves. We are human, we make mistakes, there was nothing we could do to change our past. We can only change our present so we could have a great future.

First, we have to accept that we made a mistake and we must acknowledge it. Talk to your self and tell YOU that you made a mistake but you know that you did it because that was what you thought was right in that situation. You know that you have millions of reasons why you did it. You have a lot of what ifs, yet what can you do? That was what you came up with. So, forgive yourself for your mistakes.

They say things happen for a reason, I believe that some of you do not believe that. You end up hurting yourself and blaming your past self for what you are now. People will tell you to move on but how can you move on when you hate yourself. It is time for you to meditate and reflect upon yourself.

You know that you are a very beautiful person and God created you according to his image. Sure, you did something wrong in the past. What can you do? Forgive yourself. Do not dwell on the past. Forgive yourself and move on.

Rather that you dwelling in the past, do something today to fix your future. I used to blame myself for breaking a relationship. I used to say if I had done the opposite, maybe my life would be different now. I talked to myself one day, like an inner thought saying,  “you were a kid then, I forgive you for whatever decisions you made. What can we do now?”  As if by magic, I felt some relief. I stopped regretting things and focused on asking forgiveness to those  I hurt in the past.

Let us all forgive ourselves for our past actions. Only then can we learn to love ourselves for who we are.

To do:

Tell yourself, “Please forgive me SELF, I did things in the past that affect you now. Please forgive me”

Reply with, “I forgive you”.

Have you heard of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)?

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder. DID was used multiple times in movies and series where a person’s personality changes from one person to another. I thought this disorder existed only in movies, but I stumbled upon a youtube video recently which opened my eyes to DID.

Have you heard of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)?

Dissociative Identity Disorder is real and there are numerous people who are diagnosed with the disorder. I believe that the development of DID is a defense mechanism of the body because one reason of DID is childhood trauma. Most women who suffered from extreme childhood trauma developed DID wherein their subconscious creates a separate and distinct person to help the body.

Jesse is just one of the people diagnosed with DID, her youtube channel is linked here. She explained what a DID is and what it feels to be diagnosed with DID. What is interesting about her channel is that some of her alters presented themselves. The other personality is called “Alter”, however I feel like they are not just another personality but another person living in one body. Chloe, another you tuber with DID, described her disorder like the movie “inside out” where multiple people controls the mind.

I loved how Jesse’s alters protect her. It is like her brain made little compartments for different alters to exist and support her. However, there are stories of dangerous alters who are psychopaths depicted in movies. I pity the people to which these stories were based because during their time DID was misunderstood and they themselves could not explain their behavior. I believe that these alters were just confused due to the little knowledge about DID in the past. I am glad that the world is being made aware of DID because persons who were diagnosed with DID want to be understood.

One article entitled  My life with dissociative identity disorder described his/her experiences. The author described how he/she hears voices that calms her during anxiety or felt compulsion to do things such as cook even if she/he does not want to. He/she was also surprised of the existence of things that she/he does not own or orders which he/she could not recall ordering. After learning that she/he has DID, everything made sense and probably felt relieved.

When I first watched Jesse’s video, I thought it was fake but after watching it all I could see that she’e real, All her alters are different but all aimed at wanting to protect her. I felt like she has a family inside a virtual reality. I wacthed more videos of other youtubers with DID and it is really enlightening. It is good to know that people with DID are not killers as portrayed by media. They are friendly and part of the human body. I wish to know more about them and I am happy to the people who are sharing their experiences. In fact I also want to increase the awareness of people to DID.

The you tubers and writers narrated how they learned that they have DID and what it feels to have DID. If you wish to know more about them. Please click the links in the text or the links below:

Why drink water? One of the reasons why you should drink water are the following:

  1. It will make your skin, hair, and nails beautiful.
  2. Prevents headache. If you are experiencing headache, there is a big chance that you lack water. Before you take any medicine for headache, try drinking lots of water then get 8 hours of sleep.
  3. It will extend your life by properly allowing proper body and organ functions.

HOW  to Make Drinking Water a Habit?

  1. The best way to start drinking water is by getting your favorite water bottle. Buy a BPA free water bottle that resonates with your soul. Having a desirable water bottle will entice you to drink water.
  2. Fill the water bottle and put it beside your bed before you sleep. Once you wake up, drink the water from your water bottle. Do this for at least 7 days to allow your body to adjust.
  3. If necessary download an App to remind you to drink water every 2 hours.
  4. Bring your water bottle whenever you go.

Do this for at least 7 days and you will notice that your body slowly does it automatically.

Tinder App Review by Filipina. Yes, I tried Tinder App recently to see how interesting it is because of all the hype out there about it. Some people might love it and be addicted to it and I understand why. I will be narrating  my experience in Tinder. Before I start, I would like to remind everyone that my views do not reflect the views of the general population. In fact, it might not reflect the real view of my fellow Filipina since I am a unique person.

These narrations are from a typical Filipina (conservative, God-fearing Filipina who is not a gold digger)

Tinder App Review by Filipina

Tinder App Review by Filipina
Tinder is a dry, flammable material, such as wood or paper, used for lighting a fire. (Fire of Love? lol)

Day 1: Checking the Surroundings

It all began in a sunny afternoon. While the world is alive outside, I was inside the office away from all the fun nature could bring. Suddenly, as if a lightning of idea struck my head,  I asked what tinder was and thought I should check it out. So, I downloaded the App and used my real Facebook account to register. I am too lazy to make a fake account. Now, once you are in you could see three main options: your profile and settings, place where you see people, your matches and your messages.

I tried searching my area, I cringed about how people present themselves. I was thinking that these people should at least be presentable. But no, all the people I saw within my area are probably joking around too. Well, I am not demeaning them but half of them are naked, sticking their tongues out, and the like.

SECOND HALF OF DAY 1

Not wavering and curios about the App, I downloaded a fake GPS App so I could go elsewhere and choose another country. I traveled to Los Angeles to see how they use tinder. Two-thirds of the profiles I saw are topless men, men with cigarettes and alcohol, tattoos, or naked. There were handful with great profiles (probably collecting likes?). I enjoyed reading the descriptions about themselves. It makes me think how brave these people are and putting their faces for everyone else to see. Yes, there were descent photos.

A MISTAKE

It was my first time using tinder and I do not know how it really works. So it happened, I swiped up instead of left or right. You know what happened? It said “SUPER LIKE” and then it said I found a “MATCH”. I was not planning to like the photo because it belonged to the 2/3 I was telling you about. A few minutes later I got a message from him. I panicked so I deleted my account.

END OF DAY 1

DAY 2 – A SECOND CHANCE

Okay, I tried giving myself a second chance to discover this Tinder App. I registered again using my Facebook account. I diligently looked at other people’s profiles and look at it. I was surprised at how a picture could tell you something about a person. I see people showing their vices, bodies, sports, dogs, and hobbies. I was surprised about what your picture can tell you. I think the picture that you should put in your tinder is the picture that will tell people about you. There, I kept on looking at photos and I forgot about time. Funny, I do not like the photos but I kept on swiping away hoping I could find a decent photo with great description about themselves.

Mind you, I was carefully selecting potential people that I do want to meet in real life. I just don’t like anyone. I check the photos and their profile description.

DAY 3 – I FOUND A MATCH

In case you don’t know, I love dogs. I also like minimalism and zen. I stopped every time  I see a cute dog or cat. I read the profile of people with good photos. Probably, people will look at the photo and then if they like the photo, they will read what’s written in the profile. If the profile was bad, swipe away and move on to the next.  My tip for you my friends, please put a nice description about yourself. I saw someone “super like” me and I read his description. I kind of pity him a bit so I liked him too and there’s the match. Then I asked myself, what is the point of being matched with someone. He messaged me a bit until he figured out that I was located in the Philippines and then that’s it. Basically, people in tinder are only interested in people who they could personally meet. (So, no, you cannot find a friend in Tinder, my friends).

Next, I liked a person because the profile description was great, I was hoping that maybe this person could be a friend. It turned out to be tougher than the first match. Automatically, he’s asking whether I want to date him. (Again friends, you cannot find a friend in tinder). His profile says his looking for a friend, but that’s a lie. I researched how to “un-match” a person in tinder and I found out that you could unlike a person (whew). I should have known that in the first day. I think tinder is not a place for people like me who just wanted a friend. I feel bad for these matches, these people took efforts to send a message hoping they could find a date. Well, there are still plenty in tinder.

Day 4 – MOVING ON

I decided to fly to Japan for my fourth day. Why you ask? Simple, I like Japan. I found out that Japanese in Tinder are more interesting than what I recently visited. As for Los Angeles, they have HD profiles and beautiful landscapes. For Japan, I really like Japanese profiles. They are funny. I cannot understand kanji, hence I used google translator to read from their description. I enjoyed looking at their funny profile pictures. Maybe they love to show their humorous side. I found matches but they never messaged me. There are some Caucasians in Japan who has tinder in Japan too.

Checking the Competition

There is an option there where you can choose to see only men , women or both. I chose both. What can I say, the competition is tough. there were so many beautiful girls out there. Why is it that there are more pretty girls than good looking men (joke!). I chose to turn off the see women option because I end up envying their beauty (lol).

Day 5- MY MOVE

I told you, I have several matches but no messages unlike in day 3. So, I sent “Hello!” to everyone. Some replied hello and hi back (Yay!). I do not know what to say after that. I understand that they can only understand Japanese. Anyway, this interesting thought came into my mind when a match happened and this Caucasian messaged me. After a few exchanges, I was able to tell him that I am not based in Japan. I learned from that conversation a very interesting fact. Even if they say that they were only looking for friends, they really intend to meet up with that “friend”. No meet up, no friend. (for the third time, you can not find a friend in Tinder).

I am planning to delete my account again tonight because I have no place in tinder.

Tinder App Review by Filipina , I mean my personal review.

It’s an App dedicated for people looking for dates not friendship. If you do not intend to meet up with your matches, then stay away from this App.  I should know it because it’s a dating up. Well, I thought there was something more to it than dates. It does not have more to it. It’s just a place to find dates.

For my Tinder App Review, If you are serious about dating someone. Stick to your locality because no one will talk to you unless they could meet you in person. You cannot find a friend in Tinder. I hope there is an App where you could find friends all over the world. It’s like tinder that uses your photo but not a dating app. Sort of friendship app where you meet people around the world. Not like Facebook, but like tinder. That way, we could have friends all around the world and talk about each other’s culture and country.

BOTTOM LINE: People who are willing to put their profiles in tinder used all their courage to show their faces to the world. If you are not serious about it, please do not use the app or do not like any photo. Why am I telling you this? I I felt guilty using the app and liking photos.  People expect to find their romantic partners here and it would be frustrating to know that your match was just checking tinder out and not serious about meeting you.

That’s what I learned in my Five days journey in Tinder. I like the App because you can meet people but it’s not a friendship app. Too bad.

Well, that’s it for the dating app called TINDER.

Truly yours,

Understanding EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)? If you are a website owner or a member of many online clubs and websites, you may notice that all of them revised their Private Policy contents. Even all plugins and apps revised their Private Policies. Why would they do that?

Understanding EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) :

According to the EU website, the main purpose of the  General Data Protection Regulation, which took effect in May 2018 and affects all companies operating in the EU, wherever they are based are the following:

  1. The GDPR seeks to give people the control over their personal data.

Many websites and social media platforms collect our information and we do not know what happens to them next. In fact, if you download your data from Facebook, you will notice that even deleted messages and posts are still included in the data you download. Your data are stored in their system indefinitely and you no longer have control over them and are “really” owned by the website you gave it too. There are also many websites who sell your data to advertisers and companies who would spam your.

2. Businesses benefit from a level playing field.

All business must adopt the EU website and all of them must disclose who they share your data with. That way, all businesses will no longer have a hidden business selling your data.

WHY AM I COVERED BY GDPR WHEN I AM NOT FROM EU?

You may not be a resident of European Union or you may not have a business there. However, all websites and social media platforms who wish to operate in EU are affected. To ensure that these businesses can reach the EU member countries, they must comply with the EU laws and regulation. Hence, the whole internet is changed by the EU.

Understanding EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) : What CHANGED?

According to EU’s website the following are the 10 changes that GDPR introduced to the world:

  1. Privacy policies will have to be written in a clear and straightforward language.

Have you ever read the Privacy Policies in the websites, games, and social media that you registered with? If not, you are not alone. Almost everyone skip through the policies because they are so long and complicated. The businesses often confuse people so that they could do whatever they want with your data. hence, the GDPR directs all businesses to simplify their private policies.

2. The user will need to give an affirmative consent before his/her data can be used by a business. Silence is no consent.

Prior to this change and in case you do not know, your silence means yes. If you ignored their private policies, it means you are allowing them to do whatever they want with the data you gave them. The companies could share it with anyone and you impliedly consented to it by not saying anything against it. But how can you tell them not to do it when these facts are hidden to you through complicated words that non-legalists could not understand.

In the GDPR, the companies will tell you clearly and exactly what they will do to your data. You have to agree/confirm with their private policy before they could process your data and use it with whatever they want. In fact prior to the GDPR, it is enough that websites include a page about private policy and it means you agree to them. Now, you have to “confirm” or “agree” to them.

3. Companies must tell you the well defined purpose  why they are collecting your data and must only use your data for that purpose. In case the company will use your data for another use, they must acquire another consent from you.

4. Businesses will have to inform the user whether the decision is automated and give him/her a possibility to contest it. This is for businesses that collects algorithm in coming up with decisions for their customers.

5. Businesses will have to inform users without delay in case of harmful data breach. Do you remember the icloud data leak where celebrities’ nude photos were circulated? If the GDPR was present that time, the icloud must have informed the users that there was a breach long before the photos circulated the web.

6. The user will be able to move his/her data to another social media platform, even if it is a competing business.

7. The user will have the right to access and get a copy of his/her data, a business has on him/her

8. Users will have a clearly defined “right to be forgotten” (right to erasure), with clear safeguards.

9. The European Data Protection Board grouping all 28 data protection authorities, will have the powers to provide guidance and interpretation and adopt binding decisions in case several EU countries are concerned by the same case.

10. The 28 data protection authorities will have harmonised powers and will be able to impose fines to businesses up to 20 million EUR or 4% of a company’s worldwide turnover.

Have you heard of a shark with no teeth? EU may impose fines to those businesses who violates the GDPR law to make sure that they comply. Without punishment, the GDPR will become like a shark with no teeth. Meaning, it is a useless piece of legislation if there is no punishment for those that breach them.

Bottomline in Understanding EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) :

It is a good law because it empowers everyone to have access to their data. Now, people are becoming aware that what they share online will become a public domain. Through GDPR, slowly the users can retain the privacy of these data.
